Quality

Food, and specifically meat: products of which the quality must be guaranteed 100% at all times. At Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. product quality is always paramount.

All raw materials and production lines supplied to us must always comply with the highest standards. Both suppliers and their products are assessed against stringent criteria, continuously and periodically, by us as well as by independent parties. It is therefore with pride that we carry the various quality marks awarded to us, enabling us to guarantee the quality of our meat and poultry.

Quality control service

Quality control procedures must be in place in every section of the organisation. For every product that comes in, for every process within the company and for every product that goes out: quality is of the essence everywhere!

To structure these quality control procedures, we have designated a quality department: the quality control service. Together with independent bodies, they examine processes, materials, goods and staff to closely monitor the quality of our products.

Since 2018, Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. has boasted its own laboratory, where random tests are carried out to check whether the products actually meet the specifications. The hygiene levels are also inspected so as to preclude infections and/or bacteria. We do our utmost to ensure that our products are of the highest quality and reach the consumer in the best possible condition.

If you have special requests regarding chemical/microbiological analyses, please contact our Quality Assurance Team.

The WFL laboratory has an independent and impartial position within Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V., which has been laid down in writing in the organisation’s Quality Policy. WFL works in accordance with NEN-EN-ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and is accredited by the RvA (Raad voor Accreditatie, Dutch Accreditation Council) under number L 692.

A number of tests are conducted in our laboratory.

Certifications

Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. is periodically assessed by independent, specialised bodies. The following quality marks awarded to us endorse the quality of our meat products and work processes.

BRCGS Food Certificate

BRCGS certification offers us as a company more certainty regarding the management of our meat production processes as well as related products and services, such as packaging and transport. BRCGS contributes to a clear analysis of the risks, management of those risks, and continuous improvement of food safety. Our BRCGS certificate demonstrates our compliance with the food safety requirements imposed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and is a significant accreditation. The BRCGS certificate is also recognised by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative). We are proud to say that we achieved AA status and currently hold the BRCGS Food and Agents and Brokers certificates.

IKB Quality Mark (QS)

Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. carries the Integrale Keten Beheersing (Integrated Chain Management = IKB) quality mark for pork, 'IKB Varken'. This means that the quality and production of our products has been extensively tested by independent bodies. We are also registered in the German QS database.

AEO Certificate

The Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificate acknowledges Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. as a distributor with a safe distribution chain. This concerns the safeguards for safe goods traffic throughout the whole logistics chain. The starting point is an assessment of the general safeguards and safety procedures in place.

AEO certification concerns the safety of the entire supply chain (chain approach). The goods flow is monitored from manufacturer to buyer, for example. Other systems, similar to the AEO, apply outside the EU. A standard developed by the World Customs Organization (WDO) allows comparisons between the systems to be drawn.

BLK for pork, cutting plants and meat processers

Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. is an authorized distributor for 'Beter Leven' pork products by owning the BLK certification (one star). This Dutch certification provided by the animal protection organisation makes consumers aware of the grade of animal welfare. Animals with the 'Beter Leven' mark have more space, enrichment material and opportunities to carry out their natural behavior.

FSSC 22000 Certificate

The FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification provides a framework for effectively managing our organization's food safety responsibilities. FSSC 22000 is fully recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is based on existing ISO Standards. It demonstrates that we have a robust Food Safety Management System in place that meets the requirements of our customers and consumers.

Ferdinand Zandbergen B.V. has adopted the sector-specific code of conduct, a guide to appropriate behaviour and correct conduct in food safety and product integrity within the meat sector. The premise of this COV Code of Conduct is that its signatories will comply with all legal obligations laid down in European and national legislation.
